About the event

Learn how to write hope with honesty, depth, and emotional truth.

Writing Towards Hope (Without Being Naïve) is an in-depth poetry workshop exploring how poets can engage with hope, tenderness, and resilience without falling into cliché or forced optimism. This session focuses on writing that acknowledges difficulty while still making space for light, connection, and possibility.

Participants will explore how tone, imagery, metaphor, and structure can hold complexity, allowing poems to move towards hope without denying pain or experience. Through guided discussion, close reading, and thoughtful writing exercises, poets will learn how to balance realism and warmth in their work.

This workshop is ideal for poets who want to end their poems with openness rather than closure, write towards healing without sentimentality, or explore hope as a quiet, earned presence rather than a declaration. No prior experience is required, only a willingness to sit with complexity and write honestly.
