1. Eligibility
   Submissions are open to all Surrey residents. While we welcome poetry on any theme, we are particularly interested in pieces that celebrate Surrey, including its places, people, landmarks, heritage and events.

2. Poetry Format
   Poetry must be submitted in English and can be of any style, including free verse, rhymed poetry or structured forms. We accept previously unpublished poetry written during the same year as the anthology's publication.

3. Length
   There are no strict length requirements; however, we recommend keeping poems under 50 lines to ensure readability within the anthology.

4. Submission Limit
   You may submit up to three poems for consideration.

5. How to Submit
   All submissions must be made using the submission form below. Poems should be uploaded as a Word document and your submission must include your name, contact information and proof of Surrey residency. Please do not submit poetry by email. Poems sent to any of our email addresses will not be considered for the anthology.

The Surrey Poet Laureateship is run by a small team of volunteers and, due to the number of submissions we receive, we are unable to individually acknowledge or confirm receipt of submissions.

Please therefore pay careful attention when completing the submission form. When your submission has been successfully received, a confirmation message will appear beneath the Submit button and the information you entered into the form will clear. This is your confirmation that the form has been submitted successfully.

If you do not see this confirmation, please check the form carefully and try submitting again.

​

We also ask that you do not contact us through the website simply to request confirmation that your submission has been received. Our anthology submission form and general website contact forms feed into the same system. Additional messages can make it more difficult for our volunteer team to identify and manage anthology submissions.

Selection Process

Submissions will be reviewed by our editorial team, with selections based on artistic merit, relevance to Surrey where applicable, and the overall balance of the anthology. We aim to represent a diverse range of voices, experiences and poetic styles from across the county.

Publication & Acknowledgements

Poets whose work has been selected will be contacted prior to publication. Each selected poet will be acknowledged within the published anthology.

Due to the volume of submissions and our volunteer capacity, we are unable to provide individual feedback on unsuccessful submissions.
