Surrey’s Big Poetry Weekend is the UK’s newest poetry festival, and we’re not here to do things quietly.
Across one unforgettable weekend, we’re bringing together local legends, rising voices, and national names for a full takeover of poetry in all its forms. Expect talks, panels, workshops, all-day open mics, a buzzing Book Village, and community-led meetups designed to connect, inspire, and spark something new.

All Day Open Mics Our All Day Open Mics are where the festival truly comes alive, two full days of raw, unfiltered poetry, happening in real time. No booking, no barriers, no cost, just turn up, put your name down, and take the mic. From first-time readers to seasoned performers, this is a constantly evolving showcase of voices, stories, and moments you won’t find anywhere else. Whether you’re performing or simply soaking up the atmosphere, the energy is electric, and worth coming for all on its own.
