Fundraising Guide

You’ve chosen your fundraising activity - now it’s time to bring your idea to life! Careful planning will help you raise more and create a memorable experience. This guide will support you through every stage of the journey so you can fundraise with confidence.

Planning Your Activity

Once you’ve chosen your activity, take time to plan the key details.

Consider:

  • Date and time of your event or challenge

  • Location (home, workplace, community venue, or outdoors)

  • Materials or equipment you may need

  • Who can help you organise or volunteer

Creating a simple checklist can help you stay organised and ensure nothing is forgotten.

Fundraise Safely

We want your fundraising activity to be fun, safe and successful. To help with this, we’ve outlined a few important things to keep in mind so your fundraiser stays safe, legal and follows the necessary guidelines.

Collecting and Donating the Money

We would be hugely grateful for any donations to help us support our beneficiaries. Take your pick from these options to donate to your funds to Surrey Poet Laureateship:

If you are wanting to make a donation from yourself of £500 or more, then we would encourage you to give directly into our bank account as this reduces the amount of fees we have to pay.

Please do not send cash donations in the post. Please contact fundraising@surreypoetlaureateship and we will consider the best way to get the cash to us on a case-by-case basis.
